Clovr/wadsup is down atm due to unrelated technical difficulties.
Back in some form eventually. Might use the opportunity to change up the site/hosted games or whatever (wadsup won't change, I think it's mostly on archive.org anyway)
I dunno.
For the new chan: i wonder if it might be worth trying to set it apart from /doom/ or expand more into general /vr/ or other gaming territory. Otherwise I don't know if it will survive when 4chan comes back. Maybe another domain to avoid appearing overly limited.
Cheers. I'll hang around regardless.

>>10If the people who show up here call for it, then sure, I'm open to it.
I initially intended to focus the site around retro FPS in general, and maybe expand into like a /quake/, /marathon/, /duke/ and that kinda thing, but I'm not opposed to opening up maybe a general /vr/ board or something that can be for old games in general.
4d90d No.12
Anyway, what does /doom/ think of the new Dark Ages trailer?
Bit of off-topic from retro Doom but I'm curious.

>>12Looks cool. I have no problem dividing the eras of Doom in my head, so it doesn't "ruin" anything for me, and if it got to the point where it did sully it for me I'd simply write it off. Like I do with Thief 4.

Resident posters have dispersed sprawling ways this past week, I see some already were discussing /vertex relocation/ on wapchan. To speak of, it would be nice if lead made his way somewhere and gave a report on project's state.

e50bd No.26
>>24Yeah it me.
No particular relation to archive.org, wadsup is just backed up there is all.
https://web.archive.org/web/20250119101028/https://clovr.xyz/wadsup/doku.php?id=startCan't post anything new, but you can browse what was already there. I don't know if its all there.

>>26Oh, well, the tag system is unusable and you wouldn't access files like you normally should, so the site lost most of it's functionality for me. To be frank, I had concerns that you ultimately lost interest in it, coincident with hacking.

>>27No, my router decided to be a cunt, and I haven't set it back up yet.
I might take the opportunity to make some changes, like switching to Linux, or reshuffling/simplifying what's hosted
We'll see! A bunch of life stuff popped up at the same time, so hopefully I get to it before /vr/ is back up.

>>33I doubt this place will get shitted considering the vast majority of anons will either stay on the farms or wait for the real deal. I do think this place should gradually improve though regardless of the outcome. It is always a good thing to have alternatives. There are a couple of features missing like updating the replies without having to F5 the whole page, and missing forward reply links, but I suppose those can be added over time. My only real criticism is that the background kinda sucks.

>>36>>37>I think we should write all suggestions for improvement and any problems at >>>/meta/Definitely do this. I set the site up pretty quickly owing to the urgency of the situation, and vichan has a large number of "optional" features to it that are not enabled by default, but are pretty standard on most imageboards. Even basic stuff like administrative capcodes, thread moving, etc, are "optional" and not enabled by default.
So if there's any feature you guys are used to from 4chan that isn't here, definitely make a thread about it and I'll see whether it's something I can flip a switch for and make happen.
>replying is a bit tedious>updating the replies without having to F5 the whole page>missing forward reply linksThese things seem like they should be possible with some of the optional JS vichan doesn't enable by default. I'll look into what's possible and see if I can get these things working.
>My only real criticism is that the background kinda sucks. If someone else agrees with you, I can swap it out for the flat dark grey that would be more typical with this theme. I had concerns from the get-go that it makes the site a bit hard to read.

Honestly, though, I started playing a bit of nudoom during the downtime itself, but I'm not really having it. Probably gonna go back on my aleph one/marathon bender now that you've posted this and made me think of it lol.

>I hate that term "boomer shooter". I agree. I asked him like that because I thought he would be familiar with the term. I call games like doom and such "2.5D" shooters internally, even though that's not quite right either. Doom does have a Z axis and all, so there's not really a great word I know to call these things.

Because I believe it was a Usenet forum post.

>>16DSDA-Doom. Everything about it is great. It's nice that PrBoom+ lives on, but my only wish is that I wish it was possible to disable the Doom palette in OpenGL for truecolor but it's whatever.
GZDoom is solid for some gameplay mods I use and make. ZScript is neat. However its performance is doodoo with microstutters and it runs a bit slow and chugs on big maps even on a good PC. I also need to have compatibility mode set to Doom (strict), but it still feels off so it's not my daily driver for those reasons. My favorite port to tinker around with otherwise.
